Description:

Sacred Harp Hymn-Sing Gathering: On Saturday, October 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a regional gathering of folks interested in a cappella hymns sung in four-part harmony from 19th-Century hymnals. Because the Meeting House is nestled among Amish farms in eastern Lancaster County, this hymn-sing will be dedicated to the healing of the community in the continued wake of the Amish tragedy of last autumn. A pot-luck luncheon will break up the day.

"Seekers Anonymous" :-) will be held each Wed 7PM-9PM at the Meeting House. The primary aim is to provide an opportunity to 'check in' with each other midweek, support each other in our individual seeking, and provide each other mid-week encouragement to help us strengthen our loving resolve to "walk cheerfully over the world, answering that of God in every one" for the rest of the week.

This mid-week Friendly 'spiritual support group' arises out of a longing many of us feel for Friendly connection, reflection, and mutual caring and support during the busy week.

We’ll start the gathering with a round of worship sharing, then from there…who knows? It could be more worship sharing, silent worship, thoughtful discussion of a poem/short passage/query, or even (gasp!) music & joyful noise (or joyful listening among those who delight in musical gifts but are not endowed with them :-). It could be some combination of these. It could change from one form to another over time, based on the needs and leadings of those who attend.

The Bhagavad Gita
There is a thread of love centered, egalitarian, monotheism that rises out of the deep past of Hinduism, finding its definitive expression in the Bhagavad Gita. Mark Williams will offer a reprise of his Penn State York continuing Education class for members of UUCY and their friends. It is a revised and expanded version of his summer service of the same name, where we will have more time for discussion. We will meet Wednesdays in the Sun Room at 7:00 pm from Oct 29 to Nov 17. o Do you long for the fellowship of others seeking a deep communion with the Divine?

Then consider gathering with us in Extended Worship! We hold these gatherings three times a year. If you feel a call to ministry of any sort, including spiritual nurture of your meeting, and/or if you want to taste deeper possibilities of Quaker spiritual life, then we invite you to gather with us for a morning of worship, lasting three hours or so. The extended period is an invitation for the Spirit to work within each person and the group in transforming ways. Many find much spiritual nourishment in the silence, where vocal ministry can ripen and be spoken in keen discernment about the movement of the Spirit within each of us. Many are surprised how quickly these hours can pass.

We share a brown bag lunch and fellowship afterwards. Worship sharing in the afternoon flows out of the morning worship. We seek to let God guide our time together, rather than depend on our own planning. Afternoon activities usually involve worship sharing, and occasionally, prayer, discussion, small groups, or singing.

Please join us. All are welcome. Bring a bag lunch.
We welcome donations to meet our expenses.
