Queries
The Religious Society of Friends has no creed to which one must profess belief in order to 'join' or 'belong.' Rather, Friends make use of queries to continually probe   strengths, weakenesses, triumphs, failings in our individual and corporate lives. Regular attention to the queries faciliates honest and humble assessment of the extent to which we are living in accordance to the will and intention of God/Spirit and/or the best potential within ourselves & each other. This honest and humble assessment opens the way toward considering how we can better align our actions in daily life toward the best in ourselves and others.

From BYM's website:

The Queries are a device used within the Society of Friends for prompting both corporate and individual self-examination. They have varied through time and from Yearly Meeting to Yearly Meeting, reflecting current regional insights as to the best way for Meetings and individual Friends to live their spiritual and temporal lives. It is the practice in most Monthly Meetings to read and consider a query at each meeting for business.

Baltimore Yearly Meeting's most recent set of queries were formalized in the 1988 version of  Faith and Practice. They are currently undergoing revision, with Monthly Meetings providing input on the proposed wording of the revised queries.
