Each year Baltimore Yearly Meeting (BYM) requests that Monthly Meetings
(like York) prepare a summary of the "Spiritual State of the
Meeting." York Friends meet to discern the Meeting's Spiritual State by reflecting upon and discussing several queries provided by BYM:
1.Spiritual condition of the Meeting; strengths
and failings.
2. Nature of meetings for worship during the year. Quality of
the silence, content and quality of the spoken ministry.
3. Meetings for
business during the year. Range of concerns considered, attendance of members,
implementation of the Meeting's decisions.
4. Contributions of Peace and
Social Order, Religious Education, Ministry and Counsel, Pastoral Care and
Membership, and other committees.
5. What is most needed to deepen the
spiritual life of the Meeting and to strengthen its witness in behalf of
Friends' testimonies to the world.
Based to the "Spiritual State of the Meeting" summaries submitted
by each Monthly Meeting, Baltimore Yearly Meeting's Ministry and
Counsel Committee then drafts a report annually which
assesses the BYM's spiritual condition and needs. Below are links to York Friends' Spiritual State of
the Meeting summaries since 1997:
